Five years ago, regenerative aesthetics was a niche topic.

Today, it’s impossible to avoid.

Patients ask about stem cells. Companies advertise exosomes. Colleagues discuss PRP, growth factors, peptides and polynucleotides. So it’s no surprise that regenerative treatments have become one of the fastest-growing segments in aesthetic medicine.

But how do you decide which treatments deserve a place in your practice?

Some therapies have years of clinical use behind them, while others are still emerging, surrounded by claims that outpace the available data.

Providers looking to add regenerative aesthetics to their treatment menu need to understand how these products work, where the evidence is strongest, and which patients may benefit most from the approach. At the Global Aesthetics Conference (GAC) 2026, those questions will take center stage as experienced clinicians examine the science and practical applications shaping regenerative aesthetics today.

What’s Driving the Interest in Regenerative Aesthetics?

Part of the appeal is simple. Patients want results that don’t look like they came from a procedure at all, and regenerative treatments are marketed around exactly that promise: working with the body’s own biology instead of altering it from the outside.

Longevity plays a role, too, as more patients are asking how to age well over the next decade. Yes, they want to smooth out the wrinkles they have now, but they also want to improve cellular processes and rebuild tissue naturally, preventing new signs of aging from appearing. That’s exactly what regenerative treatments are designed to do, from stem cells and exosomes to PRP and biostimulators.

As interest grows, regenerative treatments are becoming part of more comprehensive treatment plans. PRP is often used alongside microneedling, while energy-based devices may be paired with topical exosomes or polynucleotides to enhance results. That evolution is creating new opportunities for practices while also increasing the need for thoughtful patient selection.

Understanding the Growing Treatment Landscape

“Regenerative aesthetics” is no longer a single category of treatments. It encompasses a wide range of products and procedures, making it more important than ever for providers to understand how these offerings fit into the current treatment landscape.

Each approach differs in mechanism, preparation, sourcing, clinical application and strength of published evidence. Terminology and regulatory considerations continue to evolve as well, giving providers several factors to assess when determining where a therapy may fit within their practice. Regenerative treatments also include therapies with decades of clinical experience alongside newer approaches that are still being evaluated through ongoing research.

Where the Evidence Is Strongest

Several regenerative therapies have accumulated a larger body of clinical research and are already integrated into aesthetic practice for specific indications:

  • Biostimulators (such as poly-L-lactic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite) have decades of clinical use supporting collagen stimulation, gradual volume restoration and improvements in skin quality.
  • PRP & PRF are supported by a growing body of literature in hair restoration, with expanding evidence for skin rejuvenation, scar management and combination protocols.
  • Microneedling is supported by numerous clinical studies demonstrating improvements in acne scars, fine lines, texture and dyschromia. It also serves as a common starting point for combination therapies.
  • Growth factor-based therapies have demonstrated benefits in wound healing and post-procedure recovery, with growing use following laser resurfacing, microneedling and other energy-based treatments.

Areas of Active Research

Several regenerative therapies are generating considerable clinical interest while researchers continue to expand the published evidence supporting their use:

  • Exosomes are being investigated for their role in cell-to-cell signaling, collagen production and tissue repair. Early studies are encouraging, but product standardization, regulatory oversight and long-term clinical evidence continue to develop.
  • Polynucleotides have shown promising results for improving skin quality and elasticity in early clinical studies. Recent systematic reviews report favorable outcomes while also calling for larger, higher-quality trials and greater consensus on treatment protocols.
  • Nanofat and adipose-derived therapies are attracting interest because they combine volumizing effects with regenerative potential. Early clinical experience is promising, but stronger clinical evidence is still needed before broad recommendations can be made.
  • Peptides continue to expand, with research exploring their effects on collagen synthesis, inflammation and tissue repair. Individual peptides differ substantially in mechanism and supporting evidence, making this an active area of ongoing investigation.

The Questions Every Practice Should Be Asking

As new regenerative therapies continue to enter the market, evaluating them requires more than reviewing a product brochure or a handful of before-and-after photos. Providers need a practical framework for assessing where each treatment fits within their practice and how it aligns with their clinical philosophy.

  • What clinical evidence supports this treatment for its intended indication?
  • How standardized are the preparation methods and treatment protocols?
  • Which patients are most likely to benefit?
  • What outcomes can be supported with confidence during patient consultations?
  • How does this treatment complement existing services and combination protocols?
  • What regulatory or safety considerations should influence implementation?
  • What training, equipment or workflow changes would be required?

These are the kinds of questions that help practices evaluate new technologies thoughtfully while maintaining high clinical standards as regenerative medicine continues to evolve.

Learn From the Experts at GAC 2026

GAC 2026 brings regenerative aesthetics into a broader clinical conversation about evidence, treatment planning and patient outcomes.

Over four days in Miami Beach, surgeons, dermatologists, injectors and regenerative medicine specialists will examine how established therapies and emerging technologies are being used in skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, facial aging, longevity care and combination protocols.

Sessions will explore topics ranging from PRP variability and growth factor-based skincare to exosomes, polynucleotides, cellular therapeutics, and regenerative strategies for GLP-1 patients. Attendees can hear how experienced providers evaluate the science and integrate regenerative therapies into their existing treatment menus.

Register for GAC 2026 to compare approaches, ask better questions and bring a clearer framework for regenerative aesthetics back to your practice. The insight shared throughout the conference can help your team evaluate new opportunities with greater confidence and make informed decisions about the treatments that deserve further consideration.
